Initial Setup: Discount

Step-by-step guide to enable the app embed and publish your first discount campaign in RuffRuff Order Bonus.

Starting from a state where the app is already installed, here are the basic steps to run your first discount campaign.

(1) On the app home page, click "Enable app in theme" in the setup guide

(2) Select the Shopify theme you want to use the app with from the dropdown

(3) Click "Enable app"

(4) Enable "RuffRuff Order Bonus" in the left panel of the theme editor

(5) Click "Save" in the top right corner

If the app embed is not enabled, widgets and product messages will not appear on your online store.

(1) Open "Discount campaigns" from the menu

(2) Click "Create campaign"

(3) Configure each section of the campaign:

  • Campaign overview: Set an internal campaign name and choose the application method (automatic / manual), and discount code

  • Active dates: Set the campaign start date and time (end date is optional)

  • Eligibility conditions: Set conditions to target specific customers (e.g., orders over $50 USD)

    If no conditions are set, the campaign applies to all customers

  • Discount: Set the discount type (order, product, or shipping) and value (percentage or fixed amount)

  • Display settings: Configure whether to show the campaign on your store via widget or product message

  • Restrictions: Configure purchase type (one-time / subscription), discount combinations, and usage limits (for manual campaigns)

    If no restrictions are needed, the default settings are fine

(4) Once all settings are configured, click Save

All settings can be edited later. Start by configuring everything and saving.

(1) A paid plan is required to activate campaigns

(2) Subscribe to a plan from the plan selection screen

Campaigns saved before subscribing will remain in draft status.

(1) Change the status to "Active"

(2) Click "Save" — the campaign will start running based on your configured period and conditions

What should I check if a discount is not being applied?

Check:

(1) Campaign is Active and within its dates.

(2) Eligibility conditions are met.

(3) For manual discounts, the code is entered correctly.

(4) You have an active paid plan.

(5) You're testing on the live store, not in preview mode.

(6) Purchase type and combination settings match.
