Restrictions let you control "which purchase types," "whether the discount can be combined with other discounts," and "how many times it can be used." This prevents unintended discount stacking or over-use.
Which settings appear depends on the application method (automatic or manual) and whether subscription is enabled.

At least one purchase type must be selected. Enabling "Subscription" reveals the "Applies to recurring orders" setting.
Available only when "Subscription" is enabled. Specifies how many recurring orders the discount applies to.

When the shipping discount is less than 100% (not free shipping), Shopify automatically applies a 100% discount on the 2nd and subsequent recurring orders. Therefore, the setting is automatically restricted to "first order only" in this case.

For a combination to work, both campaigns must have the combination setting enabled. Enabling only one side is not enough.
When multiple discounts apply to the same item, the higher discount amount takes priority.
If this campaign includes a shipping discount, "Can be combined with shipping discounts" cannot be selected.
Available only for manual (discount code) campaigns.

Combinations: Both campaigns must have the combination enabled. If this campaign includes a shipping discount, combining with other shipping discounts is not allowed.
